If you care about the inside and outside appearance of your car you may realise that taking it down the local hand car wash is more than likely causing damage to the paintwork, trim and alloys. You perhaps are not overly impressed by sticky, shiny silicone-based products, or the way traffic film remover is sprayed over your car – usually mixed far too strong- having the result of stripping any existing protection, turning plastic wheel bolt covers white and marking any chrome effect trim. Then the sun comes out and your once deep glossy paintwork doesn’t look so glossy anymore and has lots of light scratches and cobweb effect swirls. This is all down to bad valeting technique and products.

If your car is new and has had a ceramic coating applied by the dealership then this can be an exception to the above.
Process on a Typical Maintenance Detail Visit
pH neutral snow foam applied to exterior to gently loosen any dirt.
Rinsed with the aid of a power washer at a safe distance and not of the same power as drive through establishments!
Wheels are carefully cleaned with a non-acidic wheel cleaner which is gently brushed with non-scratch soft bristled detailing brushes inside the rim and face.
A two-bucket wash process with grit guards and lambswool wash mitt. One bucket stays clean with the correct type of shampoo for your existing paint protection in and the other is used to rinse out the mitt after every panel, thus dirt is not transferred back onto your car, potentially resulting in scratched paintwork.
A deep plush microfibre drying towel is then used to gently dry the car.
All the door shuts are wiped dry
The interior gets a really good hoover out with the mats removed, brushed and foam cleaned as necessary.
All surfaces are gently wiped clean.
Separate super soft cloths are used on delicate areas such as piano black features
Glass cleaned inside and out
Tyres conditioned
Spritz of air freshener to finish.
